Anjou the Cat
Meet Anjou
Draft cover illustration
Book 1
Anjou is a real silver Maine Coon cat with tufted ears, big paws, fluffy white cheeks, and one very grand tail.
The cover image shown here is a draft illustration from the current dev-v2 image process, not final Book 1 cover art.
Her ordinary indoor day is full of important work: following Mommy, asking Daddy for morning pets, supervising the computer, watching birds and squirrels, and playing bedtime peekaboo.
The real Anjou
Before she is a character on the page, Anjou is a real indoor cat with watchful green eyes, tall tufted ears, white cheek fur, and a calm-but-curious way of taking over a room.
The real cat behind the story
Cooking, cleaning, computer work: if her people are doing something, Anjou wants to inspect the situation.
Windows are serious business. Birds and squirrels can make her chatter and keep watch long after they leave.
She would often rather snuggle and get pets than eat or play. In the evenings, she is usually glued to Mommy.
For grown-ups
Meet Anjou is inspired by a real indoor Maine Coon cat and the small routines that make her feel larger than life. The book keeps the language simple and lets the illustrations carry much of Anjou's personality.
A Maine Coon is a large, long-haired cat breed known for tufted ears, big paws, and a friendly, watchful presence. Anjou is not a giant for a Maine Coon, but she is still long, fluffy, and hard to miss.
